Regina to receive federal funding for Rapid Housing Initiative

REGINA — The City of Regina is poised to receive federal funding to help with its Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI), states a news release.

“The RHI provides funding to facilitate the rapid construction of new permanent affordable housing units for people and populations who are vulnerable and prioritized under the National Housing Strategy,” reads the release.

The Initiative will receive funding through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. City council approved an agreement between the two entities and next steps involve securing a non-profit to partner with on the project and find a suitable location, according to the release.

The city will submit a proposal by March 15, 2023 with any approved project requiring delivery within an 18 month window.
