TORONTO—Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) president and CEO David Marshall has been appointed as advisor to the minister of finance on auto insurance and pensions effective Feb. 1, 2016.
According to a release from the Council of Ontario Construction Associations (COCA), Marshall’s appointment is one year, with the opportunity to renew for one year.
Marshall has been president and CEO of the WSIB since January 2010.
"COCA’s board of directors has enormous respect for David Marshall," stated COCA Chair Gary van Bolderen in a statement. "He inherited an organization that was totally directionless, dysfunctional, and unsustainable, one that viewed workers and employers as adversaries and he turned it around and set it on the right course."
COCA president Ian Cunningham states Marshall is an "organizational leader."
"Above all he is strategic but beyond that he is extremely skilled at working effectively with his managers and stakeholders to put strategy into action and make it work," he said. "He leaves behind him at the WSIB a huge pair of shoes to fill."
