TORONTO — The board of governors of the Ontario College of Trades (OCOT) has announced that David Tsubouchi will be retiring as OCOT registrar and CEO upon the hiring of a replacement.
The announcement came in a statement issued June 8.
OCOT listed Tsubouchi’s accomplishments in OCOT’s first four years as including the launch of a public register that has become an imnportant source for consumers and businesses engaged in hiring workers in a compulsory trade, and being active in pointing out opportunities in the skilled trades to young people, women, new Canadians and indigenous people.
During Tsubouchi’s tenure the College won Canada’s Best Diversity Employers awards in 2016 and 2017 for exceptional workplace diversity, inclusiveness programs and projects to advance diversity within the skilled trades industry.
The Council of Ontario Construction Associations also issued a statement, commenting, "David has provided the College with strong leadership over the past four years and his accomplishments are many. He has been accessible to stakeholders and responsive."
The College’s executive committee will begin the search for Tsubouchi’s successor immediately. Odgers Berndtson has been retained to conduct the recruitment of the new registrar and CEO.
