A Calgary driver has been sentenced to two years in prison for slamming into a road maintenance crew at high speed in the middle of the night and injuring three workers.
Richard McAuley, 31, was given the sentence last week by provincial court Judge Peter Barley after he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
The collision occurred on Deerfoot Trail in March, 2008, when McAuley hit Michael Greenman, Daniel Rannelli and Marclare Jiminez.
McAuley was already on bail for a charge of driving over the maximum .08 legal blood-alcohol limit when he struck an arrow board set up to direct traffic.
