Metrolinx extends $927-million contracts with Bombardier

Daily Commercial News

Metrolinx announced today that they have extended two contracts with Bombardier for fleet operations and maintenance service on its Go Transit line.

The contracts are said to be worth $927 million over the next 10 years.

“GO Transit is one the most vibrant commuter rail operators in North America and has been a huge success story for more than 40 years. For Bombardier, being a part of this success is more than gratifying,” said Raymond Bachant, President, Bombardier Transportation North America, in a statement.

“This extension confirms once more Bombardier’s leadership position as a services provider for passenger rail fleets in North America and worldwide.”

Bombardier has been responsible for GO Transit’s fleet maintenance since 1997 and its operations since 2008.

They have also supplied GO Transit with more than 600 BiLevel rail coaches which are the green and white, double-deck trains used in the commuter’s rail fleet.

GO Transit moves 62 million passengers across the GTA a year.
