Work on River Street in downtown Toronto’s east side to replace 141-year-old watermains and reconstruct the road pavement is coming to an end later in May.
Work on the $4-million project by contractor Midome Construction Services Ltd. includes constructing bike lanes and repairing broken sidewalks. Work began last July and was set to end in November but delays were encountered over the winter when the watermains had to pass water quality tests. Toronto is renewing its aging infrastructure to improve water distribution and reduce the risk of watermain breaks.
