TORONTO
The province has put out the call for candidates interested in becoming members on the Ontario College of Trades Appointments Council. The College of Trades is a professional regulatory college for the province’s apprenticeship and skilled trades system, expected to be fully operational in 2012.
The Appointments Council will make appointments to the College of Trades’ Board of Governors, Divisional Boards (representing the construction, industrial, service and motive power industries), individual trade boards and its roster of adjudicators, whose members will be appointed to apprenticeship ratios and requests for compulsory certification review panels.
The Council will also act as the College’s governing board during its transitional phase.
The Council’s chair and eight members are appointed by Order in Council for up to three-year terms. Qualified candidates must possess a solid understanding of the apprenticeship and certification system and be able to make objective and impartial decisions.
Applications will be accepted until January 14, 2010. Visit www.pas.gov.on.ca for further information or call 416-327-2640.
