Apprentices compete in national contest
This yearÕs title for top flooring apprentice in Canada went to Mike McLaughlin of OntarioÕs CarpentersÕ Union Local 27 during the 2017 CarpentersÕ National Apprentice Contest awards dinner held recently in Charlottetown, P.E.I. -

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. Apprentices from across Canada recently put their skills to the test at the 2017 United Brotherhood of Carpenters National Apprenticeship Competition in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

This year marked the 25th anniversary of the competition. The best apprentices in the country competed in a diverse range of disciplines, including carpentry, drywall, millwright, floor covering and scaffolding. The event was hosted by the Atlantic Canada Regional Council of Carpenters, Millwrights and Allied Workers as well as the Carpenter Millwright Colleges and Trust Funds of Atlantic Canada.

The following is a list of winners from each category in the competition in order from first to third place.

Carpenters

Millwrights
