Two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) broke through the headwall at the extraction shaft just west of Allen Road in Toronto, Ont. as part of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT — Western Tunnel project.

The general contractor is Crosstown Transit Constructors (a joint venture between Kenaidan Contracting Ltd., Obayashi Canada Ltd., Kenny Construction Company, and Technicore Underground Inc.). In March 2015, both TBMs will be moved to the other side of Allen Road, bypassing the TTC subway line, where they will resume tunneling toward Yonge Street. The internal diameter of the tunnels will be 5.75 metres. Construction Manager is 4Transit. Subcontractors include: Pacchiosi North America Inc. (jet grouting); Deep Foundations Contractors Inc.
