Facade work is progressing on the new 17-storey patient care tower and renovations to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.

The design, build, finance project, constructed by Bondfield Construction Co. Ltd., will connect existing hospital wings and provide state-of-the-art facilities for respirology, orthopedics, oncology and critical care, ambulatory services including a pre-admission facility and diagnostic imaging, two intensive care units, perioperative services, four in-patient units and space for future growth. The renovations include expansion to the undersized emergency department, ambulatory care including an infusions centre and clinics, administrative offices and perioperative services including post anesthetic care unit renovations. The owner is St. Michael’s Hospital (planning) and completion has been scheduled for late 2019. The architects/designers are NORR Architects and Diamond Schmitt Architects Inc. Subcontractors include: Urban Mechanical (mechanical); and OZZ Electric Inc. (electrical).
