KITCHENER, ONT. — Although Gateman-Milloy completed construction on Innisfree House in 2015, the builder continues to support the local hospice.
The construction firm recently announced a $50,000 donation to Innisfree House over the next five years. Innisfree House is the Region of Waterloo’s newest palliative care hospice.
"We enjoy many long-term relationships that start with ideas, develop through construction and extend through on-going maintenance and other support," said Michael Milloy, president of Gateman-Milloy, in a statement issued June 1.
Milloy presented a cheque to Kim Robinson, executive director of Innisfree and Lisaard Houses, recently.
"Gateman-Milloy has been a proud partner and supporter of Innisfree through the development and construction period, and now with our property maintenance services," Milloy continued. "We are thrilled to be extending this partnership to include Lisaard House as well. It is an honour to continue to be associated with a place that provides so much support for so many people in our community and we’re pleased to be able to make this donation."
According to a release, Gateman-Milloy asked industry partners, subcontractors and suppliers to provide financial support for the construction of Innisfree House either through in-kind services or product or price reductions. In addition to financial support for the project, Gateman-Milloy also provided its construction management resources.
The completed facility has earned accolades for Gateman-Milloy, including Community Builder of the Year from the Grand Valley Construction Association as part of its Building Excellence Awards in 2016, adds the release. The construction firm was also recently recognized by the Canadian Construction Association with the National Community Leader Award, in part because of its work on Innisfree House.
