MONTREAL — Cogir Real Estate and its partner the Fonds immobilier de solidarite FTQ have announced the groundbreaking for its Humaniti multi-use project and unveiled the branding of the project’s Humaniti Hotel Montreal as a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel.
The $200-million Humaniti project was billed as a "connected vertical village" in a media statement released earlier this month. It will include a 200-room hotel, over 300 rental units, 150 condominiums, 60,000 square feet of office space and 15,000 square feet of commercial space and will occupy the entire block bordered by Viger, De Bleury, De La Gauchetiere and Hermine streets.
The project designer is Lemay.
On hand for the official groundbreaking ceremony were the project’s promoter and president and CEO of Cogir, Mathieu Duguay; the president and CEO of the Fonds immobilier de solidarite FTQ Normand Belanger; Serge Primeau, vice-president, Canadian operations, Urgo Hotels Canada; and the senior vice-president, natural resources, industries, entertainment and consumer goods at Fonds de solidarite FTQ, Janie Beique.
A luxury, four-star boutique hotel, Humaniti Hotel Montreal will have 193 rooms between the 10th and 18th floors. The hotel will also feature a 100-seat restaurant, a 60 to 80-seat lounge-bar, reception and meeting rooms, a spa, a gym and an outdoor rooftop pool. The hotel will be managed by Urgo Hotels Canada.
An existing building on the site was demolished in June and construction started immediately. The hotel is slated to open in spring 2020.
