SASKATOON, Sask.—The world’s largest John Deere Construction and Forestry dealer, Brandt Tractor, drew a slew of dignitaries and strong representation from the local construction industry as it formally opened new offices and showroom in Saskatoon on Sept. 11.
The opening of its new facility on 60th Street in Saskatoon after 23 years operating out of its Millar Avenue location was billed as vote of confidence in the construction industry by Brandt officials.
Tours of the new, larger LEAN-designed facility offered guests an opportunity to inspect John Deere’s expanded line of construction and other products first-hand, including small skid steer loaders and large Production Class construction and mining equipment. A number of new John Deere Construction and Forestry models never before seen in Saskatchewan were brought in for the event, including Deere’s much-anticipated 1050K Production Class dozer, which drew a curious crowd throughout the afternoon and evening. The "reimagined" new dozer, designed with more heft and power, weighs around 95,000 lbs., is manufactured in Dubuque, Iowa and costs $725,000 U.S. in the United States.
"Our provincial economy is tremendously resilient and we see significant long-term strength in the industry," said Saskatoon branch manager Rod Bowes. "With the unveiling of this purpose-built facility — the only one of its kind in this market — we’re demonstrating our firm commitment to our customers."
Around 400 people, many of them members of the local construction industry, turned out for the event, Brandt said in a media release. Among the dignitaries in attendance were Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall and Brandt Tractor president Shaun Semple.
The Brandt Group of Companies, headquartered in Regina, is comprised of Brandt Agricultural Products, Brandt Engineered Products, Brandt Equipment Solutions, Brandt Road Rail Corporation and Brandt Tractor, which has with 31 locations across Canada.
