George Brown receives $50,000 for scholarships

TORONTO — The George Brown College Foundation has received $50,000 to fund scholarships for students at the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies.

The Dean Family Leadership in Construction Award will be presented to two students each year for the next five years, explains a release issued by the college.

Full-time students in the Honours Bachelor of Technology (Construction Management) program will be eligible to receive the award and must obtain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate leadership.

The Dean family donation was celebrated on May 29 at the Casa Loma Campus with Brookfield Partners Foundation president Alan Dean; his wife Kathy Kinnear; dean of the Centre for Construction, Engineering and Technology Adel Esayed; chair of the Angelo DelZotto School of Construction Management Clint Kissoon; George Brown College Foundation president Cindy Gouveia; and Candice O’Donnell, manager of student awards.

"George Brown College provided our children with a great education and a support network that has allowed them to flourish in their desired careers. We are very pleased to give back to a school that does so much for its students," Dean said.

"We are thrilled to work alongside Alan and Kathy," Esayed added.

"They are partnering with us to build a better Toronto, one that helps people from all neighbourhoods achieve success."
