TORONTO — The Construction Institute of Canada (TCIC) has announced the registration deadline for its Simulated Student Bid Competition.
The competition is an event held to help students studying construction to understand the real-life challenges that are present within the construction bidding and estimating process, the TCIC website explains.
The competition requires students across Canada to submit complete bids based on a set of contract documents. Winners are presented with monetary prizes at an awards event held in Toronto in the spring.
The TCIC deadlines notice indicates teams must register with the bid competition by Monday, Jan. 29 at 8 a.m. EST.
Teams must choose a team name and team leader as well as a team gmail address and email their registration form to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Registration to the Plans Room will be communicated at a later date during the registration period. An email will be sent to each team’s gmail address with instructions and subsequent steps.
Each team must have a mentor acting as an advisor to their team. Mentors may counsel only one registered team and must be in the construction industry.
College and university professors are not eligible as mentors, however, professors may coach any team associated with their respective school.
Teams must obtain their mentor and email a signed Mentor Declaration Form by Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
