Structure, Tower and Antenna Council hits 100 member milestone

OTTAWA — The three-year-old Structure, Tower and Antenna Council (STAC) recently announced it has officially reached 100 members.

Axilz Inc., Technostrobe, Technical Rope and Rescue, GME Supply Co., FieldSENSE and Skyhook Tower Services are the most recent organizations to join STAC, said a release.

Members include tower contractors, tower engineers, safety trainers, wireless carriers, broadcasters, site owners and telecom and safety equipment suppliers.

“Reaching 100 members demonstrates the Canadian tower industry’s ongoing commitment to ensuring communications antennas are constructed with the highest regard for worker safety,” said Clay Parchewsky, STAC co-chair and vice-president of health, safety and environment at WesTower Communications, in the statement.

STAC was formed in 2015 by nine companies — three wireless telecommunications service providers, three engineering firms and three communications construction companies, said the release.

The motivation for forming STAC was to “develop an industry-wide forum to identify and promote safe work practices for all personnel involved with communications towers and related industry infrastructure,” the release noted.
