OGCA calls for immediate safety meetings
The Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA) issued a statement this morning calling on all contractors to immediately meet with their management teams and workers to reinforce safety principles. The call for action comes in the wake of two fatal construction incidents in the past week, in London, Ont. and Toronto. “The OGCA is strongly recommending that all contractors across the province take a moment for a Safety Stand Down with their workers to reflect on these recent tragedies,” stated the release.
Caisse de depot unveils $10B east Montreal LRT plan
The Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec yesterday announced plans to extend the REM LRT system currently under construction, unveiling plans for 32 new kilometres of automated light rail to be built to connect the northern and eastern sectors of Montreal Island to the downtown. The REM de l’Est will have 23 new stations and a budgeted cost of $10 billion with a projected start of construction in 2023.
OGRA to host vaccine webinar
The Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA) hosts a webinar titled COVID Vaccine, Ask Me Anything tomorrow at 1 p.m. OGRA executive director Scott Butler will moderate the webinar with Dr. Kevin Stinson, an infection control practitioner at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener, responding to questions on the rollout of the vaccines.
Yurek to speak on conservation authorities
Ontario Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks Jeff Yurek will make an announcement regarding conservation authorities at 2 p.m. today. Yurek will be at the Kelso Conservation Area, West Lodge in Milton.
