Rocky Coco named president of the ORBA’s board of directors

MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — Rock-Anthony (Rocky) Coco, president of the Coco Group, has been appointed president of the Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA).

The announcement was made during ORBA’s 94th annual AGM held Jan. 28 as part of the association’s virtual summit Forging the Roadway Ahead. Coco is taking over the leadership of the board of directors from James McVeety, who served as president since February 2020.

Coco, who resides in Toronto, graduated from of the University of Windsor with a degree in civil engineering and received his license to practice as a professional engineer in 1991.

At that time, he took over the leadership of the Coco Group, which was founded by his parents in Windsor, Ont. in 1964.

Coco first joined the ORBA board of directors in 2015 and also serves on ORBA’s Audit Committee, Contracts and Documents Committee and Highway Maintenance Committee.

“The association and the industry did not miss a beat under Mr. McVeety’s leadership as we navigated through unchartered territory in 2020,” said Coco in a statement. “Despite the incredible challenges that we faced, we have made great strides in continuing to serve as a unified voice for the roadbuilding industry and promoting excellence in every sector of Ontario’s transportation infrastructure. We have well demonstrated our nimbleness in the face of adversity, and I believe we can overcome the industry challenges that lie ahead.”
