CCA to meet with feds at Meech Lake summit May 11

OTTAWA — The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) is planning to discuss industry priorities and concerns with the Government of Canada at a joint Meech Lake meeting May 11.

CCA attends the summit annually and leaders meet with senior deputy ministers and key representatives from Public Services and Procurement Canada, Infrastructure Canada, Employment and Social Development Canada, the Treasury Board Secretariat, the Department of National Defence, Defence Construction Canada and other relevant departments.

According to a CCA newsletter, topics of discussion will include streamlining and expediting security clearances on federal projects; underscoring CCA’s call for a 25-year infrastructure program as well as the swift rollout of existing funding commitments and harmonization with the priorities of provinces and municipalities; derisking projects; CCA’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure and its recent findings from the white paper Strength, resilience, sustainability; workforce recruitment and retention; and CCA’s Talent Fits Here campaign.

CCA will provide an update of takeaways from the discussion.
