THUNDER BAY, ONT. — Edmonton-based engineering and design firm Stantec recently announced it has signed a letter of intent to acquire True Grit Engineering of Thunder Bay, Ont.
True Grit is active in infrastructure engineering, project management and planning, and environmental services, noted an Aug. 28 statement, with clients including government, Indigenous communities, Hydro One, Resolute Forest Products and various municipalities throughout northern Ontario. True Grit’s portfolio of projects includes northern remediation work, design-builds, project management, highway design, major development permitting, and approvals, the statement said.
Besides Thunder Bay, the firm has regional offices in Sioux Lookout and Welland in Ontario. Stantec said the acquisition will strengthen its footprint in northern Ontario.
“We have a longstanding relationship with True Grit Engineering and have experienced the quality work they deliver after partnering with them on a number of great projects,” said Stantec vice-president Eric Wiens in the statement. “True Grit Engineering will increase our office presence in key markets, providing our clients and the local community with increased personal contact and a deep knowledge of issues impacting projects.”
