Montreal Port Authority top executive to retire

MONTREAL — The Montreal Port Authority has announced that long-standing chief executive Sylvie Vachon, who presided over several important growth and infrastructure projects over her time with the authority, has decided to retire after 30 years of service.

Vachon spent 11 years as president and CEO of the authority, a Jan. 30 release stated. During that time, the port authority has restructured and upgraded its infrastructure, including a new cruise terminal, and prepared for growth in container handling at Contrecoeur.

The board has already begun the process of selecting the next chief executive.
