SNC-Lavalin lands Georgia project 

SNC-Lavalin announced this morning it has been awarded another three-year, US$35 million contract to continue providing construction, engineering and inspection services for the Georgia Department of Transportation District 6, which encompasses 17 counties in northwest Georgia. The contract will be delivered by the firm’s engineering, design and project management business.  

 

CDBI set for Day 2 webinars 

Day Two programming of the Canadian Design-Build Institute’s webinar series exploring the theme Design-Building our Way out of COVID-19 kicks off today at 1 p.m. EST.  Speakers include David Hubner of Partnerships BC, Neil McFarlane, recent retiree of Alberta Infrastructure, Melinda Nycholat of Defence Construction Canada and Alain Gregoire of Colliers Project Leaders. 

 

Day & Zimmermann buys EMC Power Canada 

Philadelphia-based Day & Zimmermann yesterday announced the acquisition of EMC Power Canada Ltd., an Ontario-based specialized trade services and construction company. Day & Zimmermann is a provider of construction, engineering, maintenance, staffing and defence services. 

 

Freeland addresses Toronto Global Forum 

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland will deliver a virtual keynote speech on the theme Canada’s Plan for a Strong Economic Recovery from COVID-19 today to the Toronto Global Forum. The address starts at 12:40 p.m. 

 

StatsCan, FCM announce collaboration 

Statistics Canada and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities announced yesterday the launch of a collaboration on data. The partners say they will look for new ways to generate real results for Canadians, and build on collaborations such as the Canadian Housing Survey and Core Public Infrastructure Survey. 

  

Procurement ombudsman publishes annual report 

Federal Procurement Ombudsman Alexander Jeglic has published his 2019-2020 Annual Report. A statement indicated, The Procurement ombudsman reiterates the need to simplify the overly burdensome federal procurement process in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and highlights the importance of government transparency and due diligence during this challenging time.
