Ottawa’s Zibi community will be carbon neutral 

This morning developers Dream Unlimited Corp., Dream Hard Asset Alternatives Trust and THEIA Partners announced a new partnership that will enable their new Zibi community in Ottawa to be developed as carbon neutral. The developers will team with Hydro Ottawa and Kruger Products on the program. The system will provide zerocarbon heating and cooling for all Zibi tenants and residents in the 34-acre waterfront city. 

 

Major growth expected in modular market 

The global modular construction market is expected to grow from US$103,300 million in 2019 to US$152,000 million by the end of 2025 at a compound annual growth rate of 6.65 per cent, reports the analyst Research and Markets. The report was released last night from Ireland.  

 

Buildings Show set for Nov. 30 to Dec. 4 

The Buildings Show sent out invitations today to attend a full week of Buildings Week events from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4. The event will be presented online with ConstructConnect as a sponsor. Buildings Week will feature industry professionals and suppliers, networking lounges, association meet and greets, interactive panel discussions, speaker break-out sessions, career hubs and AI-driven matchmaking. 

 

SNC-Lavalin to review Q3 results Oct. 30 

SNC-Lavalin Group announced this morning it will hold a conference call to review results for its third quarter 2020 on Oct. 30. Participants will be president and CEO Ian Edwards and executive vice-president and chief financial officer Jeff Bell. The public is invited to listen to the conference call. 

 

Montreal borough announces capital plan 

The Cote-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grace Borough Council adopted the Montreal borough’s 2021 operating budget and its 2021-2030 Ten-Year Capital Program at a special council meeting held last night. A sum of $6.83 million is allocated each year for 10 years in the capital program. Projects to be undertaken in 2021 are the renovation of chalets in Parc Somerled, Parc Van Horne, Parc Coffee and Parc Mackenzie-King; new park associated with the Westbury building project; and first stage of the reconfiguration of Parc Jean-Brillant.
