CCA marks National Construction Day
The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) celebrates Nov. 3 as National Construction Day. The association will mark the day with social media outreach. CCA president Mary Van Buren stated, “On National Construction Day, Nov. 3, we will raise the profile of the industry to reinforce the value we provide to Canadians; a value that may be overlooked or taken for granted. Building on last year, CCA and our partners will highlight the industry as a career of choice – and the pride we share in working in the industry; and showcase the significant accomplishments of our award-winning members.
Boralex wraps French wind farm
Quebec-based Boralex Inc. yesterday announced the commissioning of the 11 MW Blanches Fosses wind farm, located in the department of Aisne in France. The completion of the project brings Boralex’s capacity in France to 1,004 megawatts and its total worldwide capacity to 2,066 megawatts.
CDPQ invests in Barrette
TorQuest Partners and Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec today announced an investment in Barrette Outdoor Living Inc., North America’s leading manufacturer of wood-alternative fence and railing products. TorQuest and CDPQ are partnering in the transaction with BOL’s owner, Les Entreprises Barrette Ltee. BOL’s product line includes vinyl, aluminum and steel fence and railing, and composite decking.
Mistango launches Kirkland Lake drilling campaign
Mistango River Resources Inc. announced this morning it has commenced a 10,000-metre drilling campaign on its Kirkland West gold project, in Kirkland Lake, Ont. The Kirkland West Project is located 4,000 metres west of Kirkland Lake Gold’s Macassa Mine within a geological profile that it says strongly resembles the Kirkland Lake gold mining camp.
Richie Bros. report Edmonton success
Ritchie Bros. yesterday reported sales of 9,200 items with revenues of $110 million from its Oct. 28 to 31 Edmonton auction, up 49 per cent from the October 2019 event. Equipment highlights included a 2010 Caterpillar 16M VHP motor grader that sold for $600,000; a 2016 Peterson 2710D horizontal grinder that sold for $490,000; and a 2013 Tadano GR1000XL-2 100-ton 4x4x4 rough terrain crane that sold for $490,000.
