New Alcumus CEO focused on growing the business, creating safer work environments

Tyler Davey has been appointed as chief executive officer of North America operations for Alcumus, a U.K.-based provider of risk management solutions, and his immediate goal is to scale the company and improve health and safety in even more workplaces in Canada.

“I’ve been in the technology space for a little over 20 years and a large part of my focus has been really growing and building out businesses and teams,” Davey told the Daily Commercial News. “What I bring to the table is a hyper focus on high performing teams…that work well together and looking at strong growth.”

Alcumus has a presence in North America through its eCompliance and ContractorCheck subsidiaries based in Toronto. The companies provide health and safety software solutions for clients in a number of industries including construction.

“I’m excited to join a global leader and be able to help grow and develop Alcumus for its future success in the North American market,” said Davey.

“I have done a lot of work around building out products that are really focused on customer outcomes and user outcomes and knowing how that technology space works.

“Joining Alcumus eCompliance gives me the ability to hone in on those skills.”

Davey has managed and implemented strategies and solutions for both startups and fortune 500 customers, most recently with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft.

“I spent a majority of my career creating new divisions in companies, building out startups, helping them scale up or, most recently, I’ve spent a lot of my time with fortune 500 tech companies, two of the largest in the world, Microsoft and Amazon, helping them run what is the next big wave of technology which is Cloud,” said Davey.

“When I think about my mandate (at Alcumus), there is no such thing as a day-in-the-life of or a week-in-the-life because I’m alternating constantly between how do we drive success for our customers, how do we really build up something great there and then how do we look at the North American business as a whole and build out something that can hyper grow over the next few years,” Davey said.

Alcumus eCompliance recently accomplished its corporate mission to eliminate one million workplace injuries and incidents by the end of 2020. Davey said he is proud to be part of a company that has made such a valuable contribution to health and safety.

“I think part of the vision going forward will be expanding around that number and looking at how do we get to a spot where we not just achieve another million but go well beyond that in a shorter amount of time,” said Davey. “I think we’ve got the people and the technology and frankly the experience to grow that and make our impact in the world much greater.”

While COVID-19 has presented challenges for companies across the globe, Davey said Alcumus eCompliance can provide digital solutions for clients to get through the pandemic.

“It’s part and parcel of what we think about every single day,” he noted. “If anything, what the pandemic has done is it has shown the world the importance of digital technology, the importance of being able to build out strong health and safety work environments, the importance of being able to use technology for going in that direction.”

“Our product and engineering team have such a passion around making sure that innate focus on health and safety is drilled into everything we do,” he added

Davey will take over for Adrian Bartha, who founded eCompliance in 2012. Bartha concluded his mandate at the end of October and will remain involved with the company in an advisory capacity until the end of the year.

“I’m very proud to welcome Tyler, who will help to develop and grow Alcumus for the future,” said Bartha in a statement. “Our journey with eCompliance started with a desire to use technology for good, and the human impact we make is as hugely rewarding. It’s been a privilege to work with such an amazing team and I’m very proud of all that we’ve achieved together.”
