Afro-Canadian Contractors Association marks Black History Month

The Afro-Canadian Contractors Association (ACCA) officially launches today, marking the start of Black History Month. Watch for our interview with ACCA president Stephen Callender to be posted shortly. 

 

ULI Toronto panel discusses Black displacement

Today at noon Urban Land Institute Toronto presents a panel that will discuss the impact of urban renewal in Black communities. The session, billed as Redressing Black Canadian Displacement, will highlight Vancouver’s Hogan’s Alley, Toronto’s Mirvish Village and Halifax’s North Preston 

 

SNC-Lavalin lands U.K. highways job

SNC-Lavalin today announced it has been awarded the design contract for a major highway in South Wales, in the U.K. Through its engineering, design and project management business, the firm will undertake design services for contractor Future Valleys Construction, including the twinning of 17.7 kilometres of single carriageway and designing junctions. 

 

McMillan digs into soil regulations

Lexology today posted an article from McMillan LLP titled The Quick and Dirty on Ontario’s New Excess Soil Regulations. Phase One of Ontario’s new On-Site and Excess Soil Management Regulation, O. Reg 406/19, and supporting amendments took effect Jan. 1. 

 

Lecce schedules announcement

Ontario’s Minister of Education Stephen Lecce joins Dr. David Williams, chief medical officer of health, to make an announcement today. Watch for the briefing at 11 a.m.
