MONTREAL — SNC-Lavalin has appointed Ben Almond to the newly created role of CEO, engineering, design and project management (EDPM), Canada.
Almond joins SNC-Lavalin from Jacobs where he was most recently regional managing director of the combined Jacobs and CH2M Hill team in Canada. He has also held senior positions at Suncor Energy and Imperial Oil.
Almond will be responsible for leading a staff of 3,000, stated a Feb. 11 release. Currently based in Vancouver, Almond will relocate to Montreal in 2021.
“We welcome Ben during an exciting time for SNC-Lavalin as we focus on supporting our clients and delivering long-term growth across our core geographies,” said Philip Hoare, president, EDPM, SNC-Lavalin, in a statement. “Ben’s appointment follows the creation of a standalone EDPM business in Canada where he will work with the wider leadership to drive growth through the continued provision of world-class, digitally driven services to support our customers and deliver positive environmental, social and governance approaches and societal outcomes.”
Almond, who holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University of Manitoba, was the recipient of a Canada’s Top 40 under 40 Award in 2017.
