OTTAWA — The federal government has announced it is soliciting proposals under its $200-million Emerging Renewable Power Program, designed to expand renewable energy sources, reduce emissions from electricity sectors and establish new green industries in Canada, a recent statement said.
The funding will expand the green economy by assisting commercially viable, investment-ready, renewable power technologies such as tidal, geothermal and offshore wind.
Information on the new federal program can be found on a new webpage, at nrcan.gc.ca/energy/funding/20502.
The program forms part of government spending in furtherance of its Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change commitments, with $21.9 billion allocated over 11 years to help build a green economy, the statement indicated.
