Federal government invests $10 million for new energy advisers
The federal government has launched a call for proposals to create jobs through their $2.6-billion green retrofit program. It’s a $10-million commitment to “recruit, train, and mentor up to 2,000 new energy advisers across the country to support the Canada Greener Homes Grant, which will provide as many as 700,000 grants of up to $5,000 each to help homeowners make energy-efficient improvements to their homes, supported by an EnerGuide evaluation,” states a release. The new energy advisers will help meet demand for, and provide access to, EnerGuide evaluations for all Canadians, regardless of location. Proposals must be received by July 8.
Durham launches micro-housing pilot project in Oshawa
The Regional Municipality of Durham is moving forward with an Oshawa Micro-Housing Pilot Project. Occupancy is scheduled for fall 2021 and includes 10 micro-home units that will offer temporary transitional housing. The units will be located on Olive Avenue to the south, Drew Street to the east, and Banting Avenue to the north. This location will be available until a realignment project starts in approximately five years.
