SAINT JOHN, N.B. — The federal government has announced $10 million in funding for upgrades to Saint John Airport in New Brunswick.
The spending, announced in a recent statement, will support the rehabilitation efforts of both airport runways, the public taxiway and aprons.
Major cracks in the pavement will be repaired and the drainage system will be fixed.
As well, runways will be narrowed to comply with new airport design standards and to minimize annual routine maintenance and operating costs.
Safety areas at the end of both runways will be constructed in order to significantly enhance operational safety at the airport, states a release.
The Safety Related Airfield Modernization Investment Project is a project of the Saint John Airport in partnership with the Government of New Brunswick.
The federal funding comes from the National Trade Corridors Fund.
