Petrolia wastewater plant complete and operating

PETROLIA, ONT. — The Petrolia Wastewater Treatment Plant has been completed with the new plant online and in full operation.

In July 2015, almost $14.3 million dollars in federal and provincial funding was announced for the project.

The contribution was provided under the Small Communities Fund, which is delivered by the federal and provincial governments to help small communities with populations less than 100,000 make improvements to local infrastructure, states a release.

The Petrolia Waste Water Treatment Plant has increased capacity and features state-of-the-art processing of wastewater.

From the preliminary treatment that includes screening and grit removal through the aeration tanks and secondary clarifiers, disc filtration, UV disinfection to effluent discharge, the upgraded and expanded plant will effectively manage wastewater for many years, indicates the release.
