ONTARIO — Sheridan College will be hosting the Industrial Mechanics category for the 2022 WorldSkills Competition Special Edition this fall.
This event provides young competitors with a global opportunity to compete in their skilled trade field, indicates a release, adding Sheridan College was selected through Canada’s WorldSkills member, Skills Canada.
The competition will take place from Oct. 18 to 20. Sheridan will welcome between 60 to 70 country/region representatives, including nine competitors, to the Magna Skilled Trades Centre, at Sheridan’s Davis campus in Brampton, Ont. It is the only competition being held in Canada and one of three in North America.
“Skills Canada is thrilled that Canada was selected to host the Industrial Mechanics Skill Area for the 2022 WorldSkills Competition Special Edition,” said Shaun Thorson, CEO, Skills Canada, in a statement. “Skills Canada is looking forward to working with Skills Canada Ontario and Sheridan College on this important event. Skills Competitions are a great way to inspire youth and help them gain a better understanding of skilled trade and technology driven occupations.”
