MARKHAM, ONT. — A construction worker was injured during an incident on a sewer revitalization project in Markham, Ont. Dec. 2.
The Ministry of Labour was notified and an inspector was assigned and attended the scene at 16th Avenue and 9th Line. A spokesperson said the worker was injured while working in a shaft. Emergency services also attended the scene and the worker was taken to hospital.
According to media reports, the worker fell 150 feet, was trapped in a confined space and crews took hours to free the worker.
No orders have been issued and the ministry’s investigation is ongoing.
