Worker injured at CNL site in Newtonville

NEWTONVILLE, ONT. — Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) has announced that a worker was injured Jan. 9 while unloading a bin off a truck at the CNL’s Port Granby Long-Term Waste Management Facility in Newtonville east of Toronto.

The incident occurred at 11 a.m. and the injured worker was transported by air ambulance to a health centre. A second worker was treated for shock.

An update the next day indicated the worker remained at the health centre receiving treatment.

CNL said it immediately stopped work at the site, notified the appropriate regulatory agencies and began an investigation.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
