TORONTO — A joint inquest will be held into the deaths of three workers who fell during various roofing construction projects across the province.
Dr. Rick Mann, regional supervising coroner for West Region, London Office, announced the inquests earlier this month, which will examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths of John Janssens, Michael Maukonen and William Swan.
Janssens, 73, died on Jan. 15, 2016; Maukonen, 19, died on June 28, 2016; and Swan, 56, died on May 16, 2017, from injuries sustained from a fall.
An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act, indicates a release, adding the jury may make recommendations in an attempt to help prevent future deaths.
Dr. Elizabeth Urbantke will preside as inquest coroner and Gideon Bloch will be counsel to the coroner. Details regarding the date and location will be provided when available.
