NORTH BAY, ONT. — Workplace Safety North (WSN), based in North Bay, Ont., has announced it will host a webinar on legal considerations for employers during the COVID-19 pandemic on July 15.
The theme of the free webinar will be Returning to the Workplace: Legal Considerations for Employers and it was developed to help businesses and communities cope with changes caused by the pandemic, stated a release. The event will be held as part of the WSN Feed Your Brain Lunch and Learn webinar series.
Presenters will include lawyer Brad Smith, a partner at Weilers Law who practises labour relations and employment law. Smith is a status member of the Cree Nation and has expertise in serving Indigenous clients. He has also served as Weilers’ gender diversity officer.
Topics of discussion are being solicited from the public. Smith said he plans to discuss such topics as legal considerations relating to the health and safety of workers, absenteeism, work refusals and employer and employee responsibilities in the workplace.
The webinar will be hosted by Angele Poitras, WSN community engagement specialist.
