TORONTO — A new date has been scheduled for the inquest into the death of Joseph Fancey who died in hospital on October 28, 2016 from injuries sustained while working at a construction site in Toronto.
Dr. Bonnie Burke, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto East Office, made the announcement recently. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Fancey’s death. He was 32 years old.
The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future injuries and deaths, states the release.
The inquest is expected to last three days and will hear from nine witnesses. It will begin on Monday, Nov. 9 at the Coroners Courts, Courtroom A, 25 Morton Shulman Ave. in Toronto. Dr. Geoffrey Bond will preside as inquest coroner and Kathy Nedelkopoulos will be counsel to the coroner.
