Kitchener restoration firm wins WSIB safety award

TORONTO — Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has named three winners of 2020 Small Business Health and Safety Leadership Awards in an online awards ceremony.

The awards recognize small businesses that have been “demonstrating exemplary health and safety during the pandemic and going the extra mile to keep their employees and customers safe,” stated a Nov. 24 release.

Ontario businesses with fewer than 50 employees are eligible to apply. This year, 76 businesses applied for the awards. The winners are:

 

Gold: Brick & Co. Restoration Ltd., Kitchener, $5,000

The company specializes in repairing, restoring, preserving and protecting properties in communities across Southern Ontario. Services include concrete repair and restoration, masonry restoration and repair, building envelope repair, waterproofing, UAV drone services and industrial-commercial-institutional restoration. The company employs 45 people in the construction sector and has been in business for 32 years.

 

Silver: Albany Retirement Village, Petrolia, $3,000

The retirement home has been in business for over 20 years and is a thriving community of 55 residents and 30 staff, stated the release.

 

Bronze: Ron H. Williams Drainage Inc., Listowel, $2,000

Since 1984, the company has provided agricultural drainage systems in the midwestern Ontario area. It has 14 employees, who work in the West Region, Bruce County and area.
