BREAKING: Toronto police report scaffolding collapse

TORONTO — Toronto police are reporting scaffolding has collapsed on the 16th floor of a building in the city.

Police posted a Tweet at about 10:44 a.m. this morning stating a construction crane had collapsed on a building at Stevenson Road and Silverstone Drive. They later updated that to say that it was scaffolding.

Toronto police were called to 60 Stevenson Road at 10:13 a.m. to respond to a hazard. Emergency crews were on scene. There are no reported injuries and police remain at the scene for road closures, said a Toronto Police Services spokesperson in an email to the Daily Commercial News.

Toronto Fire was also called to the scene.

“We found scaffolding that had fallen,” said a Toronto Fire spokesperson. “(There was) some scaffolding hanging on the roof area. No injuries reported.”

The Ministry of Labour has been notified.

Kipling Avenue and Stevenson Drive remains closed.

The Daily Commercial News will have more on the story.
