Worker dies after falling from elevated platform in Chatham

CHATHAM, ONT. – A 44-year-old construction worker from Chatham, Ont. lost his life after falling from an elevated platform at Mylen Custom Kitchens in Chatham July 19. 

Police were called to the scene at 97 Centre St. in Chatham at 4 p.m. Monday. The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) was notified of the incident after hours July 19. It has now taken over the investigation and three inspectors were on scene today (July 20). 

The man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Chatham hospital and succumbed to his injuries, the MLTSD reported.

The MLTSD told the Daily Commercial News the worker was employed by Curran Expert Removal and Excavating Ltd.

One requirement has been issued to Mylen Custom Kitchens. The investigation is ongoing.
