Investigators seeking men dressed as construction workers involved in home invasion

TORONTO — Hold Up investigators are seeking three suspects wearing construction vests, hard hats and dust masks wanted in connection with a home invasion robbery in Toronto.

Toronto Police held a news conference at police headquarters on Nov. 14 asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the three suspects and a vehicle of interest.

On Sept. 27 at around 7.15 a.m., a 67-year-old man answered a knock at the front door of his residence near the Eglinton Avenue West and Yonge Street area of Toronto. The resident was confronted by two armed men dressed as construction workers who forced their way into the victim’s home and demanded money.

“They tied the victim up and viciously assaulted him while ransacking the home,” Insp. Lauren Pogue stated in a release issued by Toronto Police. “The two suspects eventually fled without obtaining anything.”

The victim, who sustained severe injuries that required medical attention, freed himself and called police after the suspects left.

A week prior to the home invasion, the suspects were seen in the same neighbourhood with a third man. They were believed to be “casing” the area, the release indicates.

“All three males were dressed in similar type clothing with yellow or white hard hats and dark pants and were observed walking along the sidewalk to a waiting vehicle,” said Pogue.

The vehicle same vehicle, a 2007 or 2008 dark/grey or blue Nissan Maxima was used on both occasions.

According to the release, the first suspect wanted for the home invasion is described as a black man, in his mid-20s, approximately five-feet-10 inches to six-feet-two inches tall with a slim build. He was wearing a yellow hard hat, orange and yellow construction shirts and black pants.

The second suspect is described as a black man, in his mid-20s, about five-foot-six to five-foot-eight inches tall with a slim build. He was wearing a white hard hat, yellow construction vest and black pants and was carrying a blue sided cooler with white lid.

The third suspect seen in their company on Sept. 21 is described as a black man, in his mid-20s and about five-feet-ten inches to six-feet-two inches tall. He was wearing a reflective vest and hard hat.
