MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — EllisDon recently participated in the Steps for Life fundraiser to support families affected by workplace tragedies.
Steps for Life, usually a community walk, which was cancelled due to COVID-19, is the flagship fundraiser for Threads for Life that aims to educate people about the ripple effect of workplace tragedy and how to work together to prevent others from being injured or killed on the job. EllisDon was a national sponsor. The funds raised by the participating teams go to providing support and services for Canadian families.
EllisDon teams nationwide chose their own activity to demonstrate their commitment to health and safety.
Activities included walking in local communities wearing a Steps for Life T-shirt and hosting household game nights. Employees then sent in photos and videos to Steps for Life using the hashtags #MYWHY and #MyWHYMyWAY to raise awareness.
Teams from across EllisDon worked together to raise over $8,000, placing first in the top five national donating teams, indicates a release, adding a corporate sponsorship donation of $15,000 was also contributed by EllisDon.
The company’s teams hope to achieve a goal of $30,000.
