Funding to boost Toronto Western Hospital project

DCN News Services

TORONTO — The Ontario provincial government has announced what it terms a major expansion of the University Health Network’s Toronto Western Hospital.

Dr. Eric Hoskins, minister of health and long-term care, was at the hospital Dec. 4 to announce a redevelopment project that will add space for operations and post-operative care.

The expansion will increase operating room capacity and redevelop the space for both pre-operative services and post-operative care, a media statement said. The project will also modernize existing infrastructure to be able to adapt to changing technology.

The new spending will add 20 additional beds to the University Health Network.
