OSHAWA, ONT. — The federal and provincial governments have announced funding for construction of the new Grandview Children’s Centre in Ajax, Ont.
The $62-million facility will provide therapy and support services for children with special needs in the Durham Region, stated an Aug. 8 release. The new 130,000-square-foot facility is expected to provide services to more than 10,000 children when complete, helping to reduce the waitlist of more than 3,900 children.
The federal government is spending $17.5 million on the project through the Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure Stream while the government of Ontario is allocating $31 million. The Grandview Children’s Centre Foundation’s Believe Campaign, which includes contributions from the Region of Durham and the Town of Ajax, is contributing $13.5 million to the project costs.
