Construction gained 25,300 jobs in March
Employment in Canada increased by 634,800 jobs from February to March according to the March ADP Canada National Employment Report released today. Among sectors, construction gained 25,300 jobs. The report is derived from ADP payroll data.
B.C.’s Progressive Planet wraps expansion of plant
Vancouver-based Progressive Planet Solutions Inc. today announced it has completed the expansion of its comminution plant’s toll processing capacity. Comminution is the reduction of solid materials from larger particles to much smaller ones through various processes. Capacity was expanded with the addition of a larger mill. Progressive Planet develops pozzolan-based cementing products to replace equivalent amounts of Portland Cement and fly ash in concrete. Its flagship quarry is located in Cache Creek, B.C.
Homes sales set record in March
Statistics released today by the Canadian Real Estate Association show national home sales set another all-time record in March 2021 as increased supply became available. National sales rose 5.2 per cent on a month-over-month basis in March. The number of newly listed properties jumped 7.5 per cent from February to March. Sales gains were largest in March in Greater Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Hamilton-Burlington and Ottawa.
