Hamilton transit improvements

Today at 10:30 a.m. Caroline Mulroney, minister of transportation, is expected to be joined by Donna Skelly, MPP for Flamborough-Glanbrook; Fred Eisenberger, mayor of Hamilton; Joseph Mancinelli, international vice-president and regional manager of Central and Eastern Canada for LIUNA; and Phil Verster, president and CEO of Metrolinx, for an announcement about public transit improvements in Hamilton.

Casino portion of Pickering Casino Resort opens today

The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation has announced the Pickering Casino Resort (PCR) will open today at 10 a.m. Once COVID-19 health and safety restrictions are removed, the property will feature approximately 2,400 slot machines, just under 100 live table games, approximately 140 live dealer stadium gaming terminals, and 10 dining options, states a release. In this first phase of the property’s opening, PCR will feature a gaming floor and food and beverage amenities with reduced occupancy. The complete facility will include a 2,500-seat show theatre and a 350-seat entertainment lounge; a 275-hotel room tower with an integrated spa; and restaurants.

Skilled trades announcement anticipated for youth, underrepresented groups

First thing this morning at 9 a.m., Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development Monte McNaughton will be joined by parliamentary assistant Deepak Anand, MPP for Scarborough–Rouge Park Vijay Thanigasalam and MPP for Scarborough Centre Christina Mitas, to make an announcement about training programs for youth from underrepresented communities and under-resourced communities to explore the skilled trades.

MDM Developments offers waterfront cottages in the Kawarthas

MDM Developments, a real estate development company specializing in building condominiums in southern Ontario, is opening Fenelon Lakes Club, a cottage community on the shores of Cameron Lake in the Kawarthas. The development is located in Fenelon Falls, Ont. and features 86 condos and towns on the waterfront along with resort-style amenities such as an outdoor pool and entertaining space, fitness centre, games room and fireside lounge as well as activities such as boating, kayaking and canoeing.
