While the global economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic but faces a possible recession and rapidly rising inflation, many construction projects both large and small continue going forward.

High-end projects include the $16 billion Site C hydroelectric project in British Columbia and the Trans Mountain pipeline, as well as mixed-use residential and community projects such as the 1.5 million square0foot Oakridge Transit Centre project in Vancouver and a proposed 31-storey mass-timber tower in downtown Toronto which, when complete, will be the tallest mass-timber structure in North America.

Smaller projects also continue including a major modernization of a community pool in Regina, a residential complex in Toronto’s Little Malta neighbourhood that uses ‘eclectic bricks’, and a $24-million concert hall at the University of Manitoba.

The province of B.C. has also approved a $3.94 billion Skytrain extension between Surrey and Langley and Vinci Construction has been announced as the builder of the proposed $744-million Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir near Calgary, Alta.
