Canstruction Toronto kicks off with information night Jan. 19

TORONTO — The Call for Entries has been issued for the 21st Annual Canstruction Toronto competition in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank.

Canstruction Toronto is a design/build competition using canned food, with the proceeds from dedicated teams and sponsors supporting the food bank.

Teams of architects, engineers, designers, contractors and students in design faculties are invited to participate in the contest which involves designing and building structures made entirely from canned foods within a 10-foot-by-10-foot-by-eight-foot high space.

An information night will be held Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. at a new location, The Well, BDP Quadrangle Office located at 8 Spadina Ave. in Toronto. The deadline for registration for the competition is Jan. 27 and the design submission deadline is Feb. 17.

The competition will be taking place at Toronto-Dominion Centre. Build Night is slated for May 15 and May 16 will be the judging and awards gala. The creations will be open to the public from May 16 to 19 and deconstruction will take place May 20.
