O3 launches EA for Val-d’Or gold mine project

VAL-D’OR, QUE. — O3 Mining Inc. has announced the start of the environmental assessment process for the Marban Engineering Project in northern Quebec and has issued a notice of public consultation for the gold mine project filed with Quebec’s minister of the environment.

O3 Mining is a gold explorer and mining developer. The company’s Marban mine project is located 15 kilometres northwest of Val-d’Or, in the administrative region of Abitibi-Temiscamingue.

The project includes the operation of an open pit mine with a 10-year mine life, including two main pits and four secondary pits; surface infrastructure to enable the transportation of ore, waste rock and tailings; an ore processing plant; accumulation areas for waste rock, tailings and overburden; and related infrastructure including power supply, telecommunications, heating, ventilation and water treatment.

O3 would also divert an existing road and the create a new access road to the project from Highway 117; divert a creek currently flowing over the mineral deposits covered by the project; and develop a site rehabilitation plan to be implemented at the end of mining operations.

The public may consult the notice of the project filed by the company with the provincial government.
