REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST NEW MUSEUM GIFTS IN-KIND
The Canadian Canoe Museum stewards the world’s largest collection of canoes, kayaks and paddled watercraft. This collection, with its more than 600 watercraft, inspires connection, curiosity and new understanding.
We are building this one-of-a-kind collection a new home alongside the Peterborough Lift Lock and the Trent-Severn Waterway in Peterborough, Ontario. The new museum will offer extraordinary visitor experiences — in the building, on the land and on the water.
This 8,500 square-metre facility, with its award-winning architecture and 21st-century sustainability, aspires to be as innovative as the canoe itself. The structure is cast-in-place concrete with a serpentine glass curtain wall. The interior finishes are primarily exposed concrete and drywall with a water feature, café, event space, retail store, and a close to 5,000 square-metre intensive green roof.
Construction is scheduled to start in 2019 with the opening of the museum anticipated in 2022.
The new museum will be supported by a $65 million capital campaign and has received foundational financial support from municipal, provincial and federal governments, along with private donors.
The museum is interested in identifying potential partners in the construction industry, including trades, suppliers and contractors, who may wish to support the project through this type of donation.
Responses to this Expression of Interest (EOI) can be emailed to EOI@canoemuseum.ca and are due by July 16, 2018, at 5 p.m. Full details on the new museum project, the EOI process, and how to participate, are available at: https://canoemuseum.ca/ request-for-expressions-of-interest-process/
